Canned dehydrated Rhino Beetle Larvae with seasoning.

Rhino Beetle Larvae are the larvae of the Asian Rhinoceros Beetle. They are rich in protein, calcium, phosphorus and iron.

We source our rhino beetle larvae from specialist insect collectors. The larvae are found in the rotting wood of the palm tree or other species of tree. The larvae feed on rotten wood and the adults feed on nectar, plant sap and fruit.

They are processed by boiling them in water and dehydrating them to lock in nutrients. Following the dehydration process we season them with bbq seasoning and pack them in cans with moisture and oxygen absorbers. This keeps them fresh for up to two years.

A single can contains 1 large Rhino Beetle Larvae. They can be eaten whole or blended and mixed with other foods. The tradtional way of preparing these is to wrap the fresh larvae in banana leaves with herbs and spices and then roast over a bbq. They are then dipped into a spicy sause and eaten whole with sticky rice.
